McCracken
County Sheriffs Deputies Colleen Pennebaker and Jason Walters were
dispatched to Benton Road in reference to a vehicle accident with
injuries. Anthony M. Oliver (23) of Paducah KY was
traveling Northbound on Benton Road in his 2007 Jeep Compass,
behind a black 2004 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 33 year old Marcus A.
Robinson also of Paducah KY. Mr. Robinson slowed to initiate a
left turn, however Mr. Oliver states that he did not realize that unit
2 was slowing, because he was looking at his cell phone to check the
time. Mr. Oliver states that after checking the time,
he looked back up at the roadway, and was unable to avoid collision,
striking Mr. Robinson's vehicle. Mr. Robinson was transported by
Mercy Regional Ambulance Service to Western Baptist Hospital, where he
had complaints of pain to his shoulders, neck, wrists, and left leg.
Unit 1 refused medical treatment. No additional injuries were
reported. Both vehicles were towed by Bell's Auto. Deputies
were assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service, and
Reidland Farley Fire Department. |
