As most everyone
has heard from TV, Radio, Print & Web ads, our department
along with many others across the Commonwealth participated in the
state's annual "Click It Or Ticket" campaign. This is a
traffic enforcement program that started May 24th, ran through
the Memorial Day Holiday, and ended last weekend. We have analyzed
the data, and it has provided us with a wealth of information
that we are releasing today.
First of all we
are proud to say that even though we had a few injury accidents, no
one lost their lives on McCracken County roads during this time
frame.
We had 25
vehicle collisions this campaign (almost 40% lower than last year.),
and 8 people injured (70% lower than last year.) in those
collisions.
Listed below are
the total enforcement actions we are reporting for this program:
3 DUI
Arrests
58 Seat Belt
Citations
1 Child
Restraint Citation
10 Felony
Arrests
44 Fugitives
Apprehended
6
Suspended License Citations
10 No Insurance
Citations
33 Speeding
Citations
3
Reckless Driving Citations
12 Drug Arrests
16 Other Misc.
Traffic Citations
We fully support
traffic safety programs like these, and we look forward to
participating in several more events this summer and beyond.
