3 Car Accident with injuries involving 7

McCracken County Deputies Colleen Pennebaker and Malcolm Couch were dispatched to a collision with injuries on US 60.  Cody Allen Van Meter (25) of Lead Hill, Arizona states that he was traveling eastbound on US60 with girlfriend Christina D. Ramirez (25) and 1 year old son Aiden Allen Van Meter in his 2005 Chevy Cobalt when he entered a passing zone.  He attempted to pass 2 vehicles at once when he scraped the side of  the first vehicle, a 2006 Nissan Altima, occupied by David Kennis Chaffin (63) and Wanda Marie Chaffin (63) both of Bulls Gap Tennessee.  He then lost control of his vehicle, and slid sideways in front of the second vehicle, a 2004 Pontiac Aztek, occupied by Mary A Whitis (67) and Thomas B. Whitis (66) both of Barlow KY, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.  Mary Whitis was transported by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service to Lourdes Hospital, with complaints of pain to her neck area.   The vehicle was towed by Frank Romaine Towing.  Deputies were also assisted by West McCracken Fire Department.
