Stolen Autos Located, One In The Ohio River

  While investigating an auto theft in the 7100 block of Mayfield Metropolis Road, Deputy Tom Crabtree discovered that his suspect, Charles Harding, was responsible for another auto theft that occurred at the Star Stop located at 2946 Old Mayfield Road.  

 

  At approximately 07:00 today, Deputy Crabtree took a report for a stolen maroon 2007 Ford Taurus.  At approximately 10:00, the Taurus was discovered at an abandoned house on US 60 in West Paducah.  Additionally, Deputy Crabtree found two individuals living in the abandoned house one of which admitted to the theft on Mayfiled Metropolis Road.  The vehicle was released back to the owner and the individuals at the house were arrested.  Mr. Charles Harding, 49 of West Paducah was charged with theft of an auto and confessed to the theft of another Taurus that occurred in the city of Paducah on June 10th.  Mr. Harding stated that he had disposed of this vehicle by pushing it into the Ohio River at the Metropolis Ferry Landing of of Noble Road in West Paducah. 

 

  The Paducah / McCracken County Rescue Squad was requested to assist in recovering the vehicle from the water.  Rescue Squad members used side-scan sonar and dive equipment to locate the submerged passenger car.  Captain Don English was able to attach a tow cable to the car so that it could be pulled to shore. 

 

 

  Arrested:  49 year old, Charles Harding of West Paducah / homeless

  Charges: 1.  Theft by Unlawful Taking / Auto    Class D Felony

                2.  Theft by Unlawful Taking / Auto    Class D Felony

                3.  Criminal Mischief 1st Degree       Class D Felony

                4.  Tampering With Physical Evidence  Class D Felony

 

Arrested:    27 year old, Michael Labelle of West Paducah / homeless

Charges:  1.  Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place    Violation 

               2.  Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree               Class A Misdemeanor
