Injury accident shuts down Lone Oak Road to one lane.

At approximately 1608 hours McCracken Sheriff's Deputies responded to an injury accident at the intersection of Lone Oak Road and John E. Robinson Drive.  Larry Abernathy, 45 of Centralia, Ill, was operating a 2002 Ford F-250 belonging to Gunner Energy Corp.  Mr. Abernathy made an attempt to enter Lone Oak Road from John E. Robinson Drive while pulling a flat bed trailer.  Mr. Abernathy failed to observe a 2005 Kia sedan driven by 27 year old William S. Riley of Paducah, KY traveling east bound on Lone Oak Road.  Mr. Riley struck the trailer being pulled by Mr. Abernathy causing severe damage to the Kia and deploying both airbags.  Mr. Riley was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Lourdes for head and body injuries.  Mr. Abernathy along with passengers Timmy Marks of Mount Vernon, Ill and Joseph White of Mount Vernon, Ill were not injured and did not go to the hospital.  Lone Oak Fire Dept assisted at the scene with traffic control, clean up and medical assistance.  Mercy Regional transported the injured.  Lone Oak Road was shut down for approximately 45 minutes.
