Fatal collision on Old Hinkleville Road.

     On July 12, 2010 at approximately 2301hrs the McCracken County Sheriffs Office responded to the intersection of Old Hinkleville Road and Old Highway 60 to investigate a single vehicle fatal collision.

   

    Upon Deputies arrival, it was found that a vehicle was traveling westbound on Old Highway 60. The vehicle turned left onto Old Hinkleville Road and for unknown reasons, left the roadway through a driveway on the south side of Old Hinkleville Road. The vehicle struck a garbage can in the driveway prior to becoming airborne and then struck a ditch with the drivers side of the vehicle, turning the vehicle onto the passenger side. The vehicle then struck several trees prior to coming to rest. Once stopped, the vehicle caught fire almost instantly according to witness statements. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Coroner. The intersection was closed for the investigation and clean up for approximately four hours.

 

     The Sheriffs Office was assisted at the scene by the McCracken County Coroners Office, Mercy Regional EMS, West McCracken Fire Department and Concord Fire Department.

 

    This collision is under investigation by The McCracken County Sheriffs Office and information including names are being withheld until proper notification can be made to the family. Additional information will be released at a later date.

 

**UPDATE**

 

The driver of the vehicle (1997 Chevrolet Pickup) has been identified as being 18 year old William Blake Moore of the Bill Moore Road area of Ballard County. The McCracken County Coroner has indicated that blunt force trauma contributed to his death.
