The McCracken
County Sheriff's Department Drug Division has arrested three Paducah
Men on cocaine trafficking offenses following a month long
investigation and a vehicle pursuit.
Approximately two
months ago detectives with the drug division began receiving
information regarding drug activity occurring at 414 Elizabeth
Street in Paducah. Detectives conducted an investigation that
involved utilizing a confidential witness to make cocaine
purchases from the residence on numerous occasions over the
past month. As a result of that investigation a McCracken
County Grand Jury indicted Antonio D. Jackson and Johnny L.
Stafford for trafficking in cocaine. Antonio Jackson was arrested on
his outstanding indictment warrant for trafficking in cocaine on
08-26-2010 by the Paducah Police Department.
Jackson
had been previously arrested and convicted of trafficking in
cocaine in McCracken County.
On
08-31-2010 detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department
Drug Division were conducting surveillance on 414 Elizabeth Street
when they observed Kyrus R. Woodson arrive at the residence driving
a 2010 Chevy Malibu passenger car. Detectives then observed Johnny
Stafford exit the residence and conduct a hand to hand transaction
with Woodson through the window of the vehicle. Detectives
instructed Patrol Sgt. David Shepard, who was assisting in the
investigation to stop Woodson's vehicle. Shepard attempted to stop
Woodson at the intersection of South 4th and Elizabeth Streets.
Woodson pulled into a driveway as if he was going to stop and then
fled driving through a residential yard, through an alleyway and
back onto the roadway. Sgt. Shepherd pursued Woodson with his
emergency lights and siren as he pulled back onto the roadway.
Woodson made a series of quick turns in an attempt to elude
Sgt. Shepard. Woodson eventually traveled onto Irvin Cobb Drive where
he struck a curb in the parking lot of US Bank near the
intersection of Irvin Cobb and Bridge Streets. After striking
the curb, Woodson deflated two of the vehicle's tires.
Woodson continued on Irvin Cobb where he was observed pulling
into the rear of a Paducah business located at 2069 Irvin
Cobb Drive. Woodson then fled from the vehicle on foot. McCracken
County Sheriff's Deputies assisting in the pursuit apprehended
Woodson a few seconds later. A search of Woodson's vehicle
and person revealed an undisclosed amount of US currency believed to
be proceeds of illegal drug sales.
Woodson
had just been released from prison in February of 2010 for a
trafficking in cocaine conviction.
A
subsequent investigation revealed that Woodson had just delivered a
quantity of cocaine to Stafford at his residence prior to Woodson
fleeing. Detectives conducted a home search of 414
Elizabeth Street on this same date. A search of the residence yielded
and an additional quantity of cocaine and cocaine related
drug paraphernalia. Johnny Stafford was arrested by detectives
during the home search on the indictment warrant and additional
charges.
The
investigation is continuing and additional charges are likely.
