Man And Woman Face Drug Trafficking Offenses

 On 06/23/2011 at approximately 4 pm detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division arrested a Paducah man and woman on numerous drug related offenses.
Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division began an investigation after receiving information that Michael L. Winsted and Sarah N. Nichols were involved in illegal drug activity in the the Paducah McCracken County area. Detectives conducted an investigation that involved making Methamphetamine purchases from Winstead.
As part of the investigation detectives were conducting surveillance on Winstead's residence, in attempt to locate and arrest him on outstanding Methamphetamine trafficking charges. On 06/23/2011, at approximately 4 pm detectives observed Michael Winstead and Sarah Nichols arrive at Winstead's residence located in the 6300 Block of Greenbrae Drive in the Reidland area of McCracken County in a silver Toyota passenger car. As detectives pulled in behind Winstead, he immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot through several residential yards in the area before being apprehended by Sheriff Detectives. The foot chase lasted approximately two minutes. Detectives searched Winstead and seized two plastic baggies that contained 31 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine.
The Methamphetamine that was seized has an estimated street value of more than $3100. 
Nichols was arrested on an outstanding McCracken County bench warrant while at the GreenBrae residence. During a search of the vehicle detectives located marijuana, a methamphetamine smoking pipe and additional items of drug paraphernalia. Detectives also conducted a search of the residence.    
Detectives suspected that Nichols had concealed additional drugs on her person based on her behavior. Nichols was transported to the McCracken County Jail. Once inside, Nichols admitted that she had concealed a large amount of Cocaine inside a body cavity. Nichols retrieved and surrendered 30 grams of Cocaine to Sheriff detectives and deputy jailers from a body cavity.
The Cocaine has an estimated street value of $3,000
Both individuals were lodged in the McCracken County Jail on numerous offenses.
Arrested: Michael L. Winstead 39, of Greenbrae Drive Paducah Ky
Charges: Two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine( A class "C" felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison) Fleeing or evading the police,  Possession of Marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia 
Arrested: Sarah N. Nichols 37, of Alpha Drive Paducah Ky
Charges: Trafficking in Cocaine (A class "C" felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison) Possession of marijuana, Possession of methamphetamine, promoting contraband, Tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia
